Russian air defense systems have intercepted a significant number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeting Moscow. According to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the city's air defense units successfully detected and neutralized multiple incoming drones throughout the day.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the mayor confirmed the incident via his official Telegram channel. Initially, Sobyanin stated that air defense forces had intercepted two UAVs approaching the capital, prompting emergency services to deploy to the crash sites immediately. As the situation escalated, the mayor reported that the scale of the attack had increased, leading to the neutralization of an additional 19 drones.

According to the latest updates released by the city administration, the total number of UAVs intercepted while approaching the Russian capital has reached 80. This incident marks one of the most significant drone attacks on the Moscow region in recent times.

Drone attacks on Russian territory have become increasingly frequent amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. These incidents often lead to temporary disruptions in air traffic at major Moscow airports, including Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Vnukovo, as authorities implement security measures to protect civilian infrastructure and ensure public safety.
