Milli Məclis MDB sənədini təsdiqlədi

The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan has ratified the Protocol on amendments to the "Statute on the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)" with a specific reservation.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the relevant bill was brought up for discussion during today's plenary session of the parliament.

According to the reservation, the document is approved with the exception of the Secretary General's authority to coordinate the work of CIS sectoral cooperation bodies in matters of political cooperation and interaction with other states and international intergovernmental organizations.

Following the discussions, the document was put to a vote and adopted in a single reading. This legislative move reflects Azerbaijan's balanced approach to multilateral cooperation within the CIS framework, ensuring that the delegation of powers to central administrative bodies remains aligned with national interests and sovereignty.

The CIS Executive Committee serves as the permanent executive, administrative, and coordinating body of the Commonwealth. Azerbaijan, as a member state, actively participates in various economic and humanitarian initiatives within the organization while maintaining its independent foreign policy and territorial integrity principles.
