The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has officially approved its legislative work plan for the 2026 spring session. The document was discussed and adopted during today's plenary session held as part of the parliament's spring schedule.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the newly approved work plan includes three major new draft laws. During the session, several significant regulatory documents are expected to be adopted to further strengthen the country's legal framework.
Specifically, the spring session will focus on the adoption of the Civil Service Code, the Law "On the Rights of the Child," and the draft law regarding the execution of the 2025 state budget. The legislative plan also incorporates initiatives submitted by the President of Azerbaijan, members of the Milli Majlis, the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor's Office, and the Ali Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as proposals from 40,000 citizens with the right to legislative initiative. Following the discussions, the work plan was put to a vote and adopted in a single reading.
The Milli Majlis serves as the unicameral branch of government in Azerbaijan, responsible for enacting laws, approving the state budget, and ratifying international agreements. The approval of the seasonal work plan is a standard parliamentary procedure in Azerbaijan that ensures a structured approach to addressing the nation's evolving legal, social, and economic priorities.
