A proposal has been submitted to the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) to suspend the activities of the inter-parliamentary working groups with Belgium and the Netherlands.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Member of Parliament Elchin Mirzabayli announced the initiative during a plenary session of the parliament. Mirzabayli strongly condemned the resolutions recently adopted by the parliaments of these countries regarding Azerbaijan, stating that the documents lack legal basis and do not reflect the actual situation in the region.

"These documents are not only examples of political manipulation but also a manifestation of a selective and hypocritical approach to the principles of international law, open bias, and political aggression. While the resolutions refer to the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, the inclusion of completely groundless claims such as Azerbaijan allegedly occupying Armenian territories reveals the true nature of these biased papers. This is not just a contradiction, but a deliberate distortion of facts," Mirzabayli stated.

MP Tural Ganjaliyev also condemned the resolutions, noting that they fail to mention the positive processes occurring in the region. He pointed out the hypocrisy of those who lecture on human rights while ignoring their own history. "The parliaments of these countries never discuss modern or historical neo-colonialist policies. Instead, they are busy pointing fingers and searching for faults in others," Ganjaliyev added.

Inter-parliamentary working groups in the Republic of Azerbaijan are designed to facilitate dialogue and strengthen bilateral relations between legislative bodies. However, the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) maintains a firm stance on protecting the country's national interests and territorial integrity. The proposal to freeze these groups reflects Baku's growing dissatisfaction with what it perceives as one-sided political pressure from certain European institutions following the restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty over the Garabagh region.
