NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is scheduled to pay an official visit to Ankara, Turkey, on April 21-22.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing international media reports, the Secretary General will hold a high-level meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss bilateral relations and the current security landscape within the alliance.

During his stay, Rutte is also expected to meet with the Turkish Ministers of Foreign Affairs and National Defense. Furthermore, the visit will include a tour of Turkey's military-industrial complex, highlighting the nation's expanding role in defense technology and production. This visit comes at a time when NATO is focused on strengthening its collective defense and addressing evolving geopolitical challenges in the region.

Turkey, a member of the alliance since 1952, maintains the second-largest standing military force in NATO and plays a pivotal role in regional security. The visit by the Secretary General underscores the strategic importance of Ankara in the alliance's decision-making processes and its contributions to international peacekeeping and security operations.
