President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has sent a letter of congratulation to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev, on the occasion of Independence Day.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the congratulatory message highlights the strong ties between the two nations. "In Belarus, we highly appreciate the results of the course you are implementing to build a sovereign, developed, and confident state that is proud of its achievements in the economy and its growing international prestige," the letter states. Lukashenko also reaffirmed Minsk's strong interest in further developing the strategic Belarus-Azerbaijan partnership, expressing confidence that regular bilateral meetings and active dialogue will continue to foster successful joint initiatives.
Azerbaijan celebrates Independence Day on May 28, commemorating the founding of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918, which was the first secular democratic republic in the Muslim world. In recent years, bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus have strengthened significantly, spanning key areas of cooperation including trade, agriculture, and industrial manufacturing, supported by regular high-level diplomatic exchanges.
