More than one million people, or one-fifth of Lebanon's population, have been forced to flee their homes due to ongoing Israeli military operations, according to Babar Baloch, a spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media outlets, that the escalation of conflict in the region has triggered a massive displacement crisis. "Currently, more than one million people in Lebanon have been displaced due to the intensification of the conflict within the country and the broader region," Baloch stated during a press briefing. He emphasized that one in every five residents is now considered displaced, with many living in desperate conditions as the humanitarian situation deteriorates daily.

The UN representative further noted that approximately 200,000 people have crossed the border from Lebanon into neighboring Syria over the past month. This group includes 180,000 Syrian refugees who had previously sought safety in Lebanon and 20,000 Lebanese nationals. According to data provided by the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the death toll from the strikes has reached 1,345 since the onset of the recent hostilities.

The current escalation follows months of cross-border tensions, marking one of the most significant humanitarian challenges for Lebanon in recent decades. International aid organizations have warned that the country's infrastructure, already strained by a long-standing economic crisis, is struggling to accommodate the influx of internally displaced persons (IDPs). The United Nations continues to call for an immediate de-escalation of violence to prevent further loss of life and to allow for the delivery of essential humanitarian assistance to affected populations in the region.
