Yellow alert issued for windy weather in Azerbaijan

The National Hydrometeorological Service has issued a yellow alert regarding expected windy weather conditions in Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several other regions of Azerbaijan on January 31.

According to information provided by the service to the Operative Information Center-OMM, a south-westerly wind is expected to blow in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as in Salyan, Hajigabul, Khizi, Gobustan, Shamakhi, Sheki, Oguz, Ismayilli, Kalbajar, Lachin, Zangilan, Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Ganja, Gadabay, Dashkasan, Goranboy, Naftalan, and Mingachevir. In accordance with the yellow alert, wind speeds are forecasted to reach between 13.9 and 20.7 meters per second.

The yellow alert indicates a potential weather risk, advising the public to remain cautious of possible hazards associated with strong winds, such as falling trees or infrastructure damage. Azerbaijan's National Hydrometeorological Service regularly monitors atmospheric conditions to provide timely updates, ensuring public safety and the coordination of emergency services across the Republic of Azerbaijan.
