Russia has clarified its position regarding potential leadership changes within the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that for Moscow, the identity of the individual serving as Ukraine's defense minister is of no particular significance.
Peskov noted that Russia is closely monitoring the processes unfolding in Ukraine. According to him, the primary objective for Moscow is to see leadership in Kyiv capable of taking responsibility and making decisions aimed at resolving the conflict peacefully or bringing military operations to an end.
It should be noted that significant personnel changes have been occurring within the Ukrainian government in recent days. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced plans for a renewal of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Following a parliamentary decision, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko was dismissed from her post, triggering the resignation of the government. Zelenskyy has nominated Serhiy Koretsky, the head of Naftogaz, for the position of the new Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak has suggested that current Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko could be appointed as the new defense minister. Reports indicate that Zelenskyy has criticized the current defense minister regarding the failure of reforms within military commissariats.
These political shifts occur against a backdrop of reported mass protests in various cities across Ukraine, reflecting the ongoing internal tensions amidst the protracted conflict.
