Kreml: “Sülh danışıqları üçün nikbinlik yoxdur”

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has assessed the prospects for negotiations regarding the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, stating that there is currently little room for optimism.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Peskov told reporters in Moscow that Kyiv's current stance significantly diminishes the likelihood of a peaceful settlement to the ongoing hostilities.

The Kremlin spokesperson emphasized that there are no grounds for optimism at this stage, noting that the situation on the front lines remains active as Russia continues its "special military operation."

Addressing speculation regarding "war fatigue" among Western nations supporting Ukraine, Peskov cautioned against overstating such claims. He pointed out that certain states continue to deepen their involvement in the conflict, specifically citing the United Kingdom as an example of a nation encouraging other European countries to sustain the war effort. While he expressed gratitude toward nations attempting to contribute to a resolution, he noted that such countries remain in the minority.

Furthermore, Peskov addressed recent media reports regarding a potential visit to Russia by US President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. He clarified that there is currently no confirmed information or specific timeline regarding any such visit.

Peskov also dismissed reports suggesting that Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to meet with American rapper Kanye West, who is reportedly scheduled to perform in St. Petersburg.

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which escalated significantly in February 2022, remains a focal point of global geopolitics. Diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire have faced repeated setbacks, with both Moscow and Kyiv maintaining divergent conditions for peace negotiations, complicating international mediation attempts.
