President of the European Council Antonio Costa has announced that he expects President Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to Brussels in April.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the President of the European Council made this statement during a joint press conference with President Ilham Aliyev in Baku. The upcoming visit is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, as well as discussing regional security and energy partnerships.
The European Union remains Azerbaijan's primary trading partner, with both parties currently working toward a new comprehensive agreement to replace the 1996 Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. This high-level meeting in Brussels follows a series of diplomatic engagements aimed at enhancing the Strategic Partnership on Energy, which positions Azerbaijan as a key contributor to Europe's energy security through the Southern Gas Corridor.
