King Felipe VI of Spain has sent a congratulatory letter to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the country's national holiday, Independence Day.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the letter reads:
"Mr. President,
On behalf of the Government and people of Spain, I extend my warmest congratulations to Your Excellency on the occasion of the national holiday of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Independence Day.
Mr. President, I wish you good health, and peace, prosperity, and progress to the beloved people of Azerbaijan.
With deep respect and esteem."
Azerbaijan celebrates Independence Day on May 28 to commemorate the founding of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918, which was the first secular democratic republic in the Muslim world. Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Spain were established in 1992, and both nations continue to develop bilateral cooperation in political, economic, and cultural spheres.
