On April 29, the 13th meeting of the State Commission on the Delimitation of the State Border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia was held in Aghveran, Armenia. The session was co-chaired by Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan to discuss organizational and technical aspects of the delimitation process.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the commissions reached an agreement on three critical technical instructions: the working procedure for expert groups during delimitation, the preparation of delimitation maps, and the rules for drafting and publishing delimitation documents. During the meeting, the parties also highlighted the successful transit of goods through Azerbaijan to Armenia and the supply of Azerbaijani oil products to Armenia as significant indicators of emerging economic-trade relations. It was specifically noted that these results were made possible through the political will of President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. A protocol was signed at the conclusion of the meeting, with the next session scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan.
The delimitation and demarcation of the state border remain a fundamental pillar of the peace process between Baku and Yerevan. Following the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, both nations have committed to establishing a formal border based on legal and historical documents to ensure regional security. This process is closely linked to the broader normalization of relations and the unblocking of regional transport and economic communications in the South Caucasus, which is expected to foster long-term stability and economic growth for all parties involved.
