At least three people were killed in Kyiv after the Russian military launched missile and drone strikes against Ukraine overnight. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said 10 people were injured in the attacks in the capital.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on the X platform that a building housing the We Are Ukraine television channel in Kyiv was hit by a drone during a live broadcast. The strike partially destroyed the building, injured five people and sparked a fire that was later extinguished.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russia launched 166 drones and dozens of missiles at Ukraine overnight. Ukraine said it had destroyed 142 drones, 31 of 32 cruise missiles and two ballistic missiles.
Zelenskyy said critical infrastructure was damaged in the attacks. He added that a market in Odesa region had been hit, while a strike on the city of Kharkiv injured two people.
Donetsk region Governor Vadym Filashkin said Russian strikes on the region had killed two people and injured at least 10 others.
Mutual attacks between Russia and Ukraine were also reported. Russian officials said one civilian was killed in a Ukrainian drone attack in Kursk region, while a 39-year-old man was killed when a fuel station in the city of Starodub, Bryansk region, was struck.
The Polish military conducted a precautionary air operation amid Russia’s attacks on Ukraine. Flights at Lublin Airport were temporarily suspended, but Poland’s Armed Forces said the country’s airspace had not been violated.
The United Kingdom said it would allocate 100 million pounds, or $135 million, to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses. The funds will be used to purchase Patriot missiles, large-caliber artillery shells and drones.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv was ready to compromise in talks with Russia on halting attacks on grain shipments and energy infrastructure. He said possible trilateral meetings could be held in Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland or another country.
