China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Quo Jiakun has stated that Beijing demands the restoration of normal shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and considers potential blockade actions by the United States to be irresponsible.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the diplomat made these remarks during a press briefing regarding the current maritime security situation.

According to the spokesperson, at a time when parties have agreed to a temporary ceasefire, the expansion of US military activities and the implementation of blockade operations only serve to increase tension and further aggravate the situation. The Chinese side declared that all parties must adhere to the ceasefire and prioritize the dialogue process to ensure safe and normal navigation in the strait. The spokesperson noted that steps taken by the US could undermine the already fragile ceasefire and cause serious damage to international trade, emphasizing that only a complete cessation of military operations can create conditions for long-term peace in the region.

The statement follows high-level discussions held in Islamabad between Iranian and US delegations. The Iranian side was led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, while the US delegation was headed by US Vice President J.D. Vance. Despite the diplomatic efforts, the parties were unable to reach a final agreement due to several fundamental disagreements regarding regional security and trade routes. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most vital oil transit chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes daily, making its stability crucial for global energy security and the economy of Azerbaijan and its partners.
