UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to hold discussions in the coming days with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron to explore potential diplomatic avenues for resolving the conflict in Ukraine, including the possibility of negotiations with Russia.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited reports from Bloomberg, the leaders of the "European trio"—the United Kingdom, Germany, and France—are evaluating the feasibility of talks involving both Moscow and Kyiv and have reportedly initiated preliminary discussions with the Ukrainian side.

The initiative stems from growing concerns among European allies regarding the potential for renewed Russian offensives and increased pressure on Ukraine's energy infrastructure during the upcoming winter season. Reports from the French newspaper Le Monde suggest that European nations, led by France, are actively seeking ways to restore dialogue with Russia, particularly amid perceptions of growing fatigue in the United States regarding the ongoing conflict. While President Macron has previously advocated for re-engaging with Moscow, he is now joined by other European leaders who are increasingly prioritizing a diplomatic strategy to stabilize the region.
