The conference on "Circular Green Tourism" represents a timely and valuable initiative led by the Azerbaijani chairmanship. This event highlights the growing commitment of member states to sustainable development platforms within the tourism sector.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, this statement was made by Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), during the "Circular Green Tourism in CICA Countries" conference held in Baku.
Sarybay expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani chairmanship for its consistent leadership and strong support in developing tourism as a key area of cooperation within the CICA structure. "This conference clearly demonstrates that the future prospects of tourism in Asia will increasingly depend on the readiness of states to transform their tourism destinations into platforms for sustainable development," he noted. He added that the initiative aims to turn local experiences into shared values, cultural heritage into a tool for intercultural dialogue, and tourism cooperation into a mechanism for strengthening trust.
The CICA Secretary General emphasized that Azerbaijan's chairmanship has placed connectivity, digitalization, and sustainable development at the center of its strategy under the motto "Stronger CICA in Asia, Connectivity, Digitalization, and Sustainable Development." This vision is being implemented through concrete initiatives in transport, logistics, finance, digital technologies, media, youth engagement, environmental cooperation, and tourism.
"In this context, the 'Circular Green Tourism in CICA Countries' project acts as a crucial component of our strategic agenda," Sarybay stated. "It forms an applied platform to assist in sustainable tourism policy, efficient resource utilization, the development of local value chains, the involvement of local communities, and the deepening of interaction between tourism institutions and participants from CICA member states."
The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is a multi-national forum aimed at strengthening cooperation to promote peace, security, and stability in Asia. Azerbaijan, which holds the chairmanship of CICA, has been actively promoting initiatives focused on sustainable development and regional integration, aligning with its national priorities for green energy and eco-tourism development.
