Kallas: Aİ Azərbaycanla yeni tərəfdaşlığa hazırdır

The European Union (EU) is prepared to discuss a more structured partnership with Azerbaijan, as strengthening ties between the EU, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia aligns with shared strategic interests. Strengthening connectivity across these regions remains a priority for the bloc's foreign policy agenda.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, made these remarks during her official visit to Azerbaijan. "Progress in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia is a historic opportunity, and it is vital to maintain this momentum. The EU has a range of tools to support this, from confidence-building measures to demining activities, where we are already the largest donor," Kallas stated.

The relationship between Azerbaijan and the EU has evolved significantly, particularly through the Eastern Partnership framework and strategic energy cooperation. Azerbaijan serves as a key alternative energy supplier for Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor. Additionally, the EU's support for demining in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan underscores its commitment to regional stability and the safe return of displaced persons to their homes, further solidifying Baku's role as a reliable regional partner.
