A signing ceremony for the "Strategic Partnership Charter between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States of America" has been held in Baku.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Vugar Bayramov, a member of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly), commented on the significance of the document, stating that this step marks the beginning of a new phase in Azerbaijan-US relations.

According to the MP, the signing of the Charter not only strengthens political and strategic cooperation between the two countries but also opens up great prospects in the economic sphere. "Azerbaijan-US relations will cover new areas of economic investment, such as regional connectivity, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure, alongside energy, trade, and transit directions," he emphasized.

Vugar Bayramov noted that in the first 11 months of 2025, the trade turnover between the United States and Azerbaijan amounted to $1.365 billion. During that period, Azerbaijan's non-oil and gas exports to the US reached $54.491 million. Under the leadership of US President Donald Trump, bilateral relations are expected to focus increasingly on economic pragmatism and technological exchange.

The MP believes that strengthening strategic cooperation will provide an impetus for increasing non-oil exports and expanding trade turnover.

Recalling that Azerbaijan currently exports natural gas to 16 countries, the lawmaker stated that the country makes a significant contribution to the energy security of US partners in Europe. In his view, the strategic partnership with the US will create conditions for attracting more technology and innovation to the non-oil sector. "This cooperation means the arrival of US technology and investment in Azerbaijan, as well as an increase in economic activity in our country. As a result, the realization of our goals regarding economic diversification will accelerate further," Vugar Bayramov added.

The Strategic Partnership Charter serves as a comprehensive framework designed to deepen bilateral ties across multiple sectors. Historically, Azerbaijan and the United States have maintained a robust partnership centered on global energy security and counter-terrorism efforts. This new agreement expands that foundation to include modern economic challenges, ensuring that Azerbaijan remains a key logistical and energy hub in the South Caucasus while integrating advanced American technological solutions into its domestic economy.
