Israeli aircraft have carried out air strikes on a strategic bridge over the Litani River in the Qasimiyeh region, effectively severing a vital transport link.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), that the strikes targeted the Qasimiyeh bridge, which is considered the final remaining transport connection between the city of Tyre and other regions of Lebanon.

According to official reports, enemy fighter jets launched two consecutive strikes on the bridge, which served as the sole remaining link between Tyre and Sidon, resulting in its total destruction. Prior to the aerial bombardment, Israeli drones reportedly targeted vehicles moving in the vicinity, leading to at least one fatality. This escalation comes at a critical juncture as diplomatic efforts for a cessation of hostilities continue.

The destruction of such infrastructure carries significant humanitarian and military weight, as the Litani River has historically served as a strategic boundary in regional conflicts. The Litani River, located approximately 29 kilometers north of the border with Israel, is a key geographic marker often cited in international resolutions regarding Lebanese sovereignty and security buffer zones. These latest strikes occur despite recent statements from Hezbollah leadership expressing readiness for a ceasefire under specific conditions, while Israeli media reports indicate that the military-political cabinet has yet to finalize a decision regarding a truce in Lebanon.
