A US F-15 Eagle fighter jet has crashed in the western part of Iran, causing a brief escalation in regional tensions.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the incident was first disclosed by Israel's Channel 14. According to the television channel, the crew managed to eject from the aircraft before the impact occurred.

Following the crash, US and Israeli forces reportedly conducted a joint search and rescue operation. The crew members were quickly evacuated from the site and transported to a secure location. No official statement regarding the technical cause of the crash has been released by the Pentagon yet.

The F-15 Eagle is a twin-engine, all-weather tactical fighter aircraft designed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) to gain and maintain air supremacy in aerial combat. It has been a cornerstone of the United States Air Force's air superiority for decades. Incidents involving high-performance military aircraft in sensitive geographic zones often necessitate rapid recovery operations to secure personnel and sensitive technology, especially amid the complex geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.
