The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has officially announced a targeted strike against an Iranian underwater research center located in Isfahan, significantly impacting the Islamic Republic's naval development capabilities.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the military's press service, the facility is the sole enterprise in Iran responsible for the design and development of submarines and support systems for the Iranian Navy. In addition to its naval functions, the site is utilized for the production of various models of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
"The strike, carried out on March 24, will significantly limit Iran's ability to produce new and modern submarines for its Navy, as well as its capacity to modernize the existing fleet," the official statement noted. The IDF further emphasized that it will continue to target Iran's military industry to dismantle existing production capabilities and neutralize potential threats.
The city of Isfahan is a critical hub for Iran's military-industrial complex, housing several sensitive nuclear and aerospace facilities. This latest operation follows a pattern of increasing regional tensions and strategic efforts to disrupt the proliferation of advanced weaponry, particularly long-range drones and maritime assets, which have been a focal point of international security concerns in recent years.
