The Spanish government has developed a new plan to relocate migrant children currently residing in the North African enclave of Ceuta to the country's mainland. According to information reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing sources within the Ministry of Children and Youth, the initial phase involves transferring 500 children from Ceuta to the Spanish mainland.

Ruben Perez, the Minister of Children and Youth, has been in Ceuta since Sunday to assess the situation on the ground. This initiative follows a period of heightened tension on July 30, when over 800 irregular migrants attempted to swim from the coast of Fnideq, Morocco, to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. In response to the incident, the Spanish government announced the mobilization of resources to ensure regional security, including the deployment of armed forces to reinforce border controls amidst rising migration pressure. Official figures indicate that the number of migrants who have lost their lives while attempting to cross from Morocco to Spain has reached 88.

Ceuta, along with Melilla, serves as one of Spain's two autonomous cities on the North African coast, representing the only land borders between the European Union and the African continent. These territories have long been focal points for migration flows, often leading to complex diplomatic and humanitarian challenges between Spain and Morocco. The management of these borders remains a critical issue for European migration policy, balancing humanitarian obligations with national security concerns.
