Iranian Foreign Minister congratulates Azerbaijan on National Day

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyid Abbas Araghchi, has sent an official congratulatory message on the occasion of Azerbaijan's National Day.

Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Mehr news agency, reports that the minister stated in his message that the existing friendly relations between Iran and Azerbaijan are based on deep historical, religious, and cultural values that unite both nations, as well as the principle of mutual respect.

Araghchi noted that the leadership of both states is making consistent efforts toward realizing the aspirations of their peoples, and as a result, bilateral relations are strengthening day by day. The Iranian minister expressed satisfaction that this dynamic development process covers various fields and shared interests at both regional and international levels.

In conclusion, Seyid Abbas Araghchi extended his wishes for happiness, prosperity, and progress to the government and people of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan's National Day, celebrated on May 28, commemorates the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918, the first secular parliamentary republic in the Muslim world. Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Iran have historically been characterized by extensive cooperation in energy, transport, and regional security, with both nations frequently engaging in high-level diplomatic exchanges to bolster bilateral ties.
