US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has stated that the agreement reached between the United States and Iran is a direct result of the military and political strength demonstrated by Washington.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing international media reports, Hegseth emphasized that there is a lack of trust between the parties, and any future actions will be based on concrete, verifiable results.

Speaking to journalists following a NATO defense ministers' meeting in Brussels, Hegseth noted that the key distinction between this agreement and previous deals is that it was secured through the projection of real US military and political power. He contrasted this with earlier nuclear agreements, which were primarily the product of prolonged diplomatic negotiations.

“Iran was brought to a situation where it was forced to sit at the negotiating table and accept this agreement,” Hegseth stated, referring to the months of military pressure and blockades that preceded the deal.

The US Defense Secretary reiterated that the acquisition of nuclear weapons by Iran remains a red line for the administration of US President Donald Trump. He emphasized that the international community is aligned on the necessity of preventing Tehran from developing such capabilities.

“Iran will not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. Its possession of other dangerous types of weapons is also unacceptable, and everyone knows this. Therefore, both our military activities and our future negotiations will be shaped around this objective,” he added.

This development comes amidst ongoing efforts by the US and its allies to contain Iran's regional influence and nuclear ambitions. The US position remains focused on ensuring regional stability while maintaining a policy of maximum pressure to prevent nuclear proliferation in the Middle East.
