Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has conducted a series of telephone conversations with his counterparts from several countries to address the escalating situation in the Middle East.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Tasnim news agency, Araghchi held discussions with the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, Turkey, France, Iraq, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, as well as the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar and the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan.
During these diplomatic engagements, Araghchi outlined Tehran's position regarding recent regional developments, emphasizing that Iran is not the driver of the current escalation. The discussions reflect Iran's ongoing efforts to manage its diplomatic standing amidst heightened tensions.
The Middle East has experienced significant instability following recent military exchanges between Iran and Israel. These hostilities were triggered by regional conflicts, including operations involving Hezbollah in Lebanon. In response to regional developments, Israel has conducted strikes on military facilities within Iran, further complicating the security landscape.
US President Donald Trump has previously called on both Iran and Israel to exercise restraint, though these appeals have yet to yield a de-escalation. Iranian officials and military leadership have repeatedly warned that they remain prepared to respond to any further escalation with additional strikes against Israel, the United States, and their regional allies.
