The Iranian Ambassador to Ankara, Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh, has been summoned to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing TRT Haber, reports that the Turkish side expressed its formal reaction and serious concern regarding a ballistic missile launched from Iran that was directed toward Turkish airspace.

According to official reports, the ballistic missile, which was determined to be heading toward Turkish airspace after passing through Iraqi and Syrian airspace, was successfully intercepted and neutralized by NATO air and missile defense assets stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean. The summoning of the ambassador serves as a diplomatic protest against the potential violation of sovereign airspace and the resulting security risks in the region.

This incident occurs amid heightened regional tensions and underscores the strategic importance of the integrated NATO missile defense system. Turkey, as a key NATO member, hosts several critical components of the alliance's defense infrastructure, including the Kurecik radar station, which is designed to detect and track long-range missile threats. Such diplomatic maneuvers are standard procedure when a nation's security parameters are challenged by neighboring military activities.
