The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, has issued a sharp critique regarding recent statements made by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Iranian official addressed Rutte's comments during a recent interview with Fox News via a statement posted on the X social media platform.

Baghaei characterized NATO's alleged support for US and Israeli military operations against Iran as a clear violation of international legal norms. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson argued that Rutte's acknowledgment of the significant support provided by Italy and Romania to US military operations serves as evidence of NATO's direct involvement in a military campaign against a sovereign state.

Furthermore, Baghaei emphasized that these actions contradict the principles enshrined in the UN Charter, asserting that NATO member states must be held accountable for the consequences of these actions. Tehran has called on Italy, Romania, and other European nations to provide explanations to their citizens and the international community regarding their participation in what Iran describes as a US-Israeli campaign. The Iranian Foreign Ministry also released a list of cities it claims were affected by the conflict, including Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Shiraz, Hamadan, Sanandaj, Minab, Lamerd, and Bandar Abbas.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), established in 1949, is a political and military alliance currently consisting of 32 member countries. While the alliance's primary mission is collective defense, its involvement in regional conflicts and its strategic partnerships often draw intense diplomatic scrutiny from nations outside the bloc, particularly in the Middle East, where geopolitical tensions remain high.
