İran Xəzər dənizindəki gəmisinə hücumu terror aktı adlandırdı

Iran has officially classified the strike on a merchant vessel sailing under the Iranian flag in the Caspian Sea as an act of terrorism. The incident, which occurred on July 25, has drawn sharp condemnation from Tehran, which views the targeting of a civilian ship carrying commercial cargo as a severe violation of international maritime norms.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Iran's Ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, stated in an interview with RIA Novosti that the commercial vessel was deliberately targeted. The diplomat confirmed that the attack resulted in the death of one crew member and left another injured.

Following the incident, diplomatic tensions between Tehran and Kyiv have escalated. Ambassador Jalali noted that Ukraine's acting Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, offered an apology to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during a telephone conversation. However, Tehran has signaled that an apology is insufficient. The Iranian side has demanded full compensation for both material and moral damages resulting from the attack.

Furthermore, Ambassador Jalali has called upon Ukraine's Western allies, including the United States and European nations, to hold Kyiv accountable for its actions. He accused Western countries of applying "double standards" regarding illegal acts against civilian targets, alleging that their response is politically motivated.

The Caspian Sea, a critical waterway for regional trade and energy transit, has historically been a zone of relative stability. This incident marks a significant development in the ongoing diplomatic friction between Iran and Ukraine, raising concerns about the security of commercial shipping lanes in the region.
