Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has held a consultative meeting in Tehran with the Russian Ambassador Alexei Dedov and the Chinese Ambassador Cong Peiwu to discuss international security and diplomatic cooperation. Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Mehr news agency, reports that the parties reviewed critical issues on the international agenda during the session.

In a statement shared on his X social media account, Gharibabadi noted that the joint meeting involved an extensive exchange of views regarding the current status of nuclear negotiations recently held in Geneva, as well as various bilateral matters. The Deputy Minister emphasized that all three nations intend to maintain close consultations and coordination on significant topics within the framework of their strategic relations.

The meeting comes at a pivotal time as world powers seek to navigate the complexities of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Iran, Russia, and China have historically maintained a unified front regarding the necessity of diplomatic solutions to the nuclear issue, often advocating for the removal of unilateral sanctions. These trilateral discussions serve as a mechanism to align the foreign policy objectives of Tehran, Moscow, and Beijing amidst evolving geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East and beyond.
