Ibrahim Azizi, chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, has issued a stern warning to Ukraine following an alleged attack on an Iranian commercial vessel.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Azizi stated in a social media post that any aggression against Iran will be met with a decisive response. He warned that Kyiv would soon face the consequences of its actions, adding that the United States and Israel are also aware of the situation. Azizi characterized the incident as a misstep by Ukraine and reiterated that Tehran will not leave actions directed against its sovereignty unanswered.

The current tensions escalated following an attack on an Iranian merchant ship in the Caspian Sea on Saturday morning. According to reports, the incident resulted in the death of one sailor and left another injured. While specific details regarding the nature of the attack remain under investigation, the event has drawn immediate condemnation from Iranian officials.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a violation of the UN Charter and an act of aggression that threatens to expand the scale of the conflict. The ministry emphasized that Iran reserves its legitimate right to self-defense to protect its national security and maritime interests.
