Iran has partially reopened its airspace and restored operations at several airports, according to official reports.

Operative Information Center-OMM reported, citing the Tasnim news agency, that the decision follows a period of restricted flight activity. "Routes in the eastern part of Iran's airspace are now open for international flights," the Civil Aviation Organization stated.

The move comes amidst a volatile regional situation. On February 28, military operations were launched against Iran, resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This led to retaliatory missile strikes by Iran against targets in Israel and US military bases in the Persian Gulf. Although a two-week ceasefire was agreed upon starting April 8, 2026, recent high-level negotiations mediated by Pakistan in Islamabad on April 11-12 concluded without a definitive breakthrough.

Iran's airspace serves as a critical corridor for international aviation, connecting Europe with South and Southeast Asia. Disruptions in this region typically force global airlines to reroute through longer, more expensive paths, significantly impacting fuel consumption and flight schedules. The partial reopening is viewed as a strategic step toward stabilizing civil aviation logistics in the region despite the ongoing diplomatic challenges.
