Iran's airspace, which suspended operations amid US-Israeli military operations, will remain closed to flights until April 12. The extension comes as regional tensions continue to impact civil aviation safety across the Middle East.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing sources within Middle East air traffic management authorities, that Iranian skies will be closed to all flights until approximately 08:30 local time on April 12. However, certain exceptions apply to this restriction. The ban does not affect government, military, and medical aircraft, nor does it apply to search and rescue operations conducted with special authorization from civil aviation authorities.
The closure of Iran's airspace was initially implemented on the morning of February 28, immediately following the commencement of military operations by US President Donald Trump and Israeli forces. During that period, major cities in Iran, including the capital, were subjected to strikes. This latest extension reflects the ongoing security challenges in the region, as international airlines continue to reroute flights to avoid the conflict zone, emphasizing the strategic importance of the corridor for global transit between Europe and Asia.
