Iran has launched a large-scale attack using hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) against US facilities located in Iraq and Kuwait.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Al-Jazeera, that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) released a statement confirming the operation.
According to the report, Iran deployed 230 drones against several sites housing US troops in the Middle East. The targets included a military base in Erbil, Iraq, as well as the Ali Al-Salem Air Base and Camp Arifjan in Kuwait. The IRGC statement described these strikes as one of the "first decisive steps" taken during the conflict.
This escalation comes at a time of heightened regional tensions and follows repeated warnings from Tehran regarding the presence of foreign military forces in the Middle East. The US military maintains a significant presence in the region to support counter-terrorism operations and ensure maritime security, though these bases have increasingly become targets for regional proxy groups and direct state-led strikes. US President Donald Trump has previously emphasized the administration's commitment to protecting American personnel and interests abroad against such provocations.
