Indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington regarding Iran's nuclear program have commenced in Muscat, the capital of Oman.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing foreign media reports, the Iranian delegation is led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the American side is headed by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. Oman is acting as the primary mediator in the discussions, which are focused on the nuclear issue and the potential easing of international sanctions against Iran.

During a meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, Araghchi outlined Tehran's concerns and requirements, warning against what he characterized as excessive demands from the American side. He emphasized that Iran remains fully prepared to protect its sovereignty and national security throughout the diplomatic process. These high-level contacts follow a period of heightened regional tension and represent a renewed effort to address the long-standing nuclear impasse.

Oman has historically served as a vital diplomatic bridge between the West and Tehran, often facilitating backchannel communications known as the "Muscat process." These current talks are being closely monitored by the international community as US President Donald Trump continues to shape American foreign policy in the Middle East. The outcome of these discussions is expected to have significant implications for regional security and global energy markets, particularly concerning the verification of nuclear enrichment levels and the framework for future sanctions relief.
