Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations has outlined the conditions for the next stage of diplomatic discussions with the United States.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Iran's Ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, announced that official Tehran is prepared to resume talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, provided that Washington removes existing blockades and restrictions.
“As soon as the Americans lift the blockade, the next round of talks will be held in Islamabad. Iran is ready for any scenario,” Iravani stated, emphasizing that the removal of sanctions remains a primary requirement for the Iranian side to move forward with the discussion plan.
The potential meeting in Islamabad comes at a significant time for regional diplomacy. Since US President Donald Trump took office in January 2025, there has been renewed international focus on the future of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and broader security frameworks in the Middle East. Pakistan has frequently acted as a diplomatic bridge in the region, providing a neutral venue for high-level mediation between nations with strained relations. While specific dates for the proposed meeting have not been disclosed, the statement signals Tehran's current stance on re-engaging with the American administration under specific economic and political conditions.
