FC Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena is reportedly preparing to depart the Catalan club, with a move to Greek side Panathinaikos appearing increasingly likely.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing foreign media reports, the Spanish shot-stopper is expected to continue his career in the Greek Super League. Initial reports suggest the transfer fee will not exceed 3 million euros, with both clubs aiming to finalize the agreement before the start of the pre-season training camp.

Negotiations between the two clubs have reportedly reached a decisive stage. Pena, who is not part of head coach Hansi Flick’s long-term plans for the upcoming season, is keen to leave Barcelona to secure regular first-team football and resolve the uncertainty surrounding his future. While several La Liga clubs have expressed interest in the goalkeeper, Panathinaikos currently remains the frontrunner to secure his signature. The move is viewed as mutually beneficial; Barcelona aims to reduce its wage bill while retaining a percentage of any future transfer fee, and Pena seeks a fresh start to revitalize his career.

Inaki Pena, a product of Barcelona's famed La Masia academy, has served as a backup goalkeeper for the senior team for several seasons. His potential departure marks a strategic shift for the club as they look to optimize their squad depth and financial resources ahead of the new campaign.
