President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Mohamed Abdelsalam, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, in Abu Dhabi on February 3.
According to the correspondent of the Operative Information Center-OMM dispatched to Abu Dhabi, Mohamed Abdelsalam recalled his previous visits to Azerbaijan and his meetings with the head of state with great satisfaction. During the meeting, he once again congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on being honored with the prestigious Zayed Award for Human Fraternity.
Expressing his gratitude for the congratulations and the high award, President Ilham Aliyev highly appreciated the activities of the Zayed Foundation. The President specifically emphasized the foundation's significant role in promoting the humanitarian legacy and universal values of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the United Arab Emirates, across the globe.
The presentation of this award to the President of Azerbaijan is regarded as a reflection of the high value placed on his efforts toward establishing peace by prominent religious figures, including Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb. The meeting also highlighted Azerbaijan's consistent commitment to interfaith dialogue and international cooperation.
The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity is an independent global award that recognizes individuals and entities for their profound contributions to human progression and peaceful coexistence. Established in 2019 following the historic meeting between the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and the Pope in Abu Dhabi, the award underscores Azerbaijan's growing influence as a center for multiculturalism and its strategic partnership with the UAE in promoting global humanitarian initiatives.
