Azerbaijan's Armed Forces have been placed on high alert and must be prepared to conduct any necessary operations, President Ilham Aliyev announced during a meeting of the Security Council.

The head of state revealed that despite Azerbaijan's recent humanitarian assistance to Iran, an attack was launched against Nakhchivan. "This morning, I was informed that the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran called Baku, requesting Azerbaijan's assistance in evacuating Iranian embassy staff remaining in Lebanon," Operative Information Center-OMM reports, quoting President Ilham Aliyev.

The President noted that he immediately ordered a plane to be sent to assist with the evacuation. "They even said they were ready to pay for it. I said it is not necessary; if we do not help in a time of need, then when should we? In exchange for all this, to strike Nakhchivan in such a dirty, treacherous, and unmanly way? This stain will never be washed away from their ugly faces. Therefore, all necessary measures will be taken through diplomatic channels. Our Armed Forces—the Ministry of Defense, the State Border Service, and all other Special Forces—have been brought to number one mobilization readiness and must be ready to carry out any operation," the President stated.

Nakhchivan, an exclave of the Republic of Azerbaijan, maintains a strategic position bordering Turkey, Armenia, and Iran. Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has consistently prioritized the security and territorial integrity of all its regions, including Nakhchivan. The Security Council meeting serves as a high-level platform for coordinating the nation's defense and foreign policy responses to regional security threats.
