"I believe that this award ceremony in Abu Dhabi is symbolic, because the final stage of negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan took place here in July last year, just one month before the historic summit in Washington," President Ilham Aliyev said.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state made these remarks during the presentation ceremony of the "Zayed Award for Human Fraternity" held in Abu Dhabi. The President emphasized the significance of the location in the broader context of regional diplomacy and the ongoing peace process between the two South Caucasian nations.
"Thus, here in Abu Dhabi, with the support of our brother Sheikh Mohammed, we reached a final agreement to establish peace and later formalized it in Washington. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who decided to present us with this respected and prestigious award and to everyone who helped us achieve peace,".
The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity is an independent global award that recognizes individuals and entities for their contributions to building a more peaceful and compassionate world. Azerbaijan has recently intensified its diplomatic efforts to secure a lasting peace treaty in the region, focusing on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
