President Ilham Aliyev has expressed his gratitude to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, and the people of Turkmenistan for gifting a mosque to the city of Fuzuli, Azerbaijan.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during an expanded meeting with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is currently on an official visit to Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev recalled that the decision to construct the mosque was made during Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's visit to Azerbaijan last year, with the foundation stone laid during the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States held in Gabala.

President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the construction of this mosque by the Turkmen side serves as a testament to the sincere fraternal relations between the two nations. In response, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the project as a symbol of the enduring friendship and brotherhood between the Azerbaijani and Turkmen peoples.

The construction of the mosque in Fuzuli is part of the broader reconstruction and development efforts currently underway in the Garabagh region. Following the liberation of these territories in 2020, Azerbaijan has prioritized the restoration of cultural and religious heritage sites, with international partners, including Turkmenistan, contributing to the revitalization of the region's infrastructure and social landscape.
