President Ilham Aliyev has stated that the recent dynamics in agricultural production in Azerbaijan do not satisfy him, calling for a more robust approach to the sector's development.
Speaking at a meeting dedicated to agricultural issues, the head of state emphasized the need for a new strategic roadmap. "Lately, the dynamics in agricultural production do not satisfy me. Some time ago, instructions were given to the Presidential Administration and the Government to prepare and adopt a new State Program on agricultural development, which should be comprehensive and inclusive," President Ilham Aliyev said, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM. He added that the program must incorporate both state and private sector investments, being highly specific and short-term to ensure main goals are fully achieved.
Agriculture remains a key non-oil sector of Azerbaijan's economy, crucial for rural employment and food security. In recent years, the government has focused on modernizing farming infrastructure, expanding irrigation systems, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices, particularly in liberated territories such as Garabagh and East Zangazur, to diversify the national economy.
