Prezident İlham Əliyev: Azərbaycan tərəfinə İran rəsmiləri tərəfindən izahat verilməlidir, üzr istənilməlidir

President Ilham Aliyev has strongly condemned a terrorist act committed by Iran against the territory and statehood of Azerbaijan, specifically targeting the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during a meeting of the Security Council. The head of state emphasized that the strikes were directed at civilian targets, labeling the incident a "vile act of terror."

"The state of Azerbaijan resolutely condemns this heinous terrorist act, and those who committed it must be immediately held accountable," President Ilham Aliyev stated. "An explanation must be provided to the Azerbaijani side by Iranian officials, an apology must be issued, and the perpetrators of this terrorist act must be brought to criminal justice."

The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, an exclave of Azerbaijan, shares a significant border with Iran. This escalation comes amid a period of heightened regional tensions, where the security of strategic infrastructure and civilian safety remains a top priority for the Azerbaijani government. The Security Council meeting underscored that any violation of Azerbaijan's sovereign borders and the targeting of its citizens will be met with firm diplomatic and legal responses.
