Azerbaijan has significantly invested in the creation of physical infrastructure, including sea ports, railways, and air transport for cargo shipments. To unequivocally transform into regional transport hubs, it is essential to maintain good relations with your neighbors.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during panel discussions on "Open Corridor Policy? Deepening Trans-Caspian Cooperation" held in Munich.
The head of state noted: "From the perspective of West and East, Azerbaijan is striving for this. Azerbaijan's geographical position is such that our country is located between Asia and Europe, which is an advantage. However, without the appropriate infrastructure, the significance of this location is not fully realized."
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, has become a focal point for global logistics, connecting China and the European Union through Central Asia and the South Caucasus. Azerbaijan plays a pivotal role in this network by leveraging its strategic location on the Caspian Sea and its modern transport facilities, such as the Baku International Sea Trade Port and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. These efforts are part of a broader national strategy to diversify the economy and establish Azerbaijan as a primary transit and logistics center in Eurasia.
