President Ilham Aliyev held a one-on-one meeting with the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, in Tbilisi on April 6.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during the conversation, both leaders emphasized that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are firmly rooted in the principles of friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership. They noted the successful development of cooperation across various sectors, including politics, economy, energy, green energy, transport, and investment.
The importance of mutual visits at various levels in expanding these relations was highlighted. Both presidents underscored the strategic and economic significance of the joint transport and energy projects implemented by Azerbaijan and Georgia, which serve as vital links for the broader region. Furthermore, the role of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia was discussed as a key factor in ensuring long-term stability and security in the South Caucasus. Following the meeting, the head of state signed the guest book of honor.
Azerbaijan and Georgia maintain a robust strategic alliance, characterized by deep historical ties and shared economic interests. As key partners in the Southern Gas Corridor and various trans-Caspian transport initiatives, the two nations play a pivotal role in European energy security and the development of the Middle Corridor. This meeting in Tbilisi further solidifies the commitment of both Baku and Tbilisi to fostering regional integration and addressing common geopolitical challenges in the Black Sea and Caspian regions.
