President Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Eswatini to Azerbaijan, Sibusisiwe Mngomezulu, on April 14.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during the meeting, the ambassador conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Mswati III to the head of state. President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked the diplomat to convey his own regards to the King of Eswatini. Recalling King Mswati III's visit to Azerbaijan during the Non-Aligned Movement summit in 2019, the President expressed hope for the King's participation in the upcoming World Urban Forum session in Baku next month.

Ambassador Mngomezulu congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as the country's economic achievements. He also commended the President's diplomatic efforts in establishing peace in the region. The sides discussed expanding cooperation in energy, science, education, tourism, and environmental protection. The ambassador emphasized that Eswatini, as the chair of the African Union Peace and Security Council, continues its efforts toward ensuring peace across the African continent.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Eswatini have strengthened significantly through cooperation within international organizations, particularly the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the United Nations. As a leader in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan continues to expand its foreign policy reach into Africa, seeking new economic partnerships and mutual investment opportunities. The Kingdom of Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, maintains a policy of active engagement with emerging global partners like Azerbaijan to diversify its diplomatic and economic ties.
