The Republic of Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the comprehensive development of its relations with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, this was highlighted in a congratulatory letter sent by President Ilham Aliyev to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham.
The head of state noted: "We attach special importance to the comprehensive development of Azerbaijan-UK relations, which are based on rich and pleasant traditions. The dynamics of our economic and trade cooperation, and the fact that our time-tested strategic partnership in the energy sector is deepening day by day and being enriched with new content, are gratifying."
The diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom have historically been anchored in strong energy cooperation, particularly through the development of the Caspian Sea's hydrocarbon resources. Over the past three decades, British companies have been among the largest foreign investors in the Azerbaijani economy, playing a pivotal role in the country's energy security and infrastructure projects. Beyond energy, the two nations maintain active cooperation in education, culture, and regional security, reflecting a multifaceted strategic partnership.
