One-time financial assistance has been paid to participants of the 1941–1945 Second World War and other eligible individuals as stipulated in the decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on April 24, 2026.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population informed Operative Information Center-OMM that, in accordance with the decree, each participant of the Second World War received a one-time payment of 2,750 manats to mark the 81st anniversary of the victory over fascism.
Furthermore, a one-time payment of 1,500 manats was issued to widows of soldiers who died in or after the war, individuals awarded orders and medals for selfless labor in the rear, and employees of special units who performed tasks in the interests of the army and navy within the operational zones of the fighting fronts. This payment also extended to those awarded medals and badges for the defense of Leningrad, as well as participants of the siege of Leningrad.
The decree covers approximately 2,000 individuals in total, including 13 veterans of the Second World War. The funds have already been transferred to the recipients' bank accounts. This annual initiative reflects the state's commitment to the social protection of those who contributed to the victory over fascism. Azerbaijan played a crucial role in the war effort, providing the majority of the fuel for the Soviet front and sending hundreds of thousands of its citizens to the battlefield.
