The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it maintains full control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime chokepoint for global energy supplies.

The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Fars news agency, reports that IRGC official Mohammad Akbarzadeh confirmed the strategic positioning of Iranian naval forces in the region. "The Strait of Hormuz is currently under the full control of the naval forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Akbarzadeh stated during a press briefing regarding regional security.

This declaration follows recent statements from US President Donald Trump, who indicated that the United States Navy is prepared to escort oil tankers passing through this vital shipping route in the Persian Gulf to ensure the unhindered flow of global commerce. The competing assertions highlight the escalating geopolitical tensions in one of the world's most sensitive maritime corridors.

The Strait of Hormuz is widely regarded as the world's most important oil transit point, connecting petroleum producers in the Middle East with key markets in Asia, Europe, and North America. Approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil and gas consumption passes through this narrow waterway daily, making its security a paramount concern for international energy stability and global economic health.
