A video circulating on social media platforms in the name of Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, is a fake content created using "deepfake" technology and does not reflect reality.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MEDIA) has issued a statement regarding the matter.

According to the statement, the fraudulent video was disseminated through several accounts operating on various social media networks. MEDIA noted that such examples of disinformation, crafted with the assistance of artificial intelligence, are intended to mislead public opinion and serve to damage the existing strategic alliance and mutual trust between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
The agency has urged the public to rely only on information provided by official sources, while calling on journalists and social activists to maintain a principled stance against fake and false information campaigns. Furthermore, MEDIA invited social media platform owners and relevant bodies to implement effective mechanisms for the prompt removal of fraudulent and harmful content to prevent such occurrences.
Deepfake technology, which utilizes sophisticated artificial intelligence to create realistic but entirely fabricated video and audio recordings, has become a growing concern for global security and information integrity. In Azerbaijan, authorities have consistently emphasized the importance of media literacy and digital hygiene to combat the rising threat of cyber-disinformation and hybrid threats targeting the country's national interests and international partnerships.
